The Sunshine Coast is located on an 80 kilometre stretch of land, accessible by ferry, boat or plane, within 2-3 hours from Vancouver.
The Centre is located on Armstrong Way, off Clarkson Way, off Highway 101. ( see map) . It is mid-way between the Earls Cove ferry (to Powell River) and Langdale ferry (to the North Shore & Vancouver). The drive from the Langdale Ferry terminal is approximately 45 minutes.
Getting here from the Vancouver International Airport:
There are a number of ways to get to the Sunshine Coast from the Vancouver International Airport:
- car hire or taxi from the airport
- By public transportation: The Canada Line SkyTrain to Vancouver City Centre (approximately 35 minutes). Cross West Georgia to catch the West Vancouver Transit bus to West Vancouver in front of the Hudson’s Bay Department Store. Buses from downtown Vancouver to Horseshoe Bay ferry terminal, West Vancouver Look for the 257 express bus or 250 slow bus.
- By Float Plane:
Harbour Air provides scheduled floatplane service and charters to Sechelt from Vancouver Airport (YVR), Vancouver Harbour and Nanaimo as well as service to Whistler, Comox and Victoria.
Sunshine Coast Air provides scheduled floatplane service and charters to Sechelt from Vancouver Harbour, Nanaimo, and Victoria.
Fly! Airlines specializes in flights from Sechelt Airport (YHS) to Victoria, as well as air taxi charter service. Please note all float plane companies charge for most baggage due to weight.
Kenmore Air offers flights from Seattle to Pender Harbour and Egmont.
BC Ferries www.bcferries.ca has regular scheduled sailings from the Horseshoe Bay Ferry Terminal and travel to Langdale Ferry Terminal on the Sunshine Coast. The Ferry is 40 minutes in length and public buses await the ferry and travel to Sechelt and then onto Halfmoon Bay where the Centre is located.
Please note : ferry charges are one way only to the Sunshine Coast, on departure from either Vancouver or Powell River. There is no charge to leave !
By Public Bus:
From the Langdale Ferry Terminal, Sunshine Coast Transit provides local bus service for foot passengers between the Langdale ferry terminal and the Sechelt area, with frequent stops along the way. Buses are wheelchair accessible and are equipped with bike racks. Individuals travelling to the Centre will need to board the bus from the Langdale Ferry Terminal to Sechelt and disembark at the Trail Bay Mall. From here, board the bus bound for Halfmoon Bay. The stop nearest the Centre is the Halfmoon Bay: Redroofs Road and Hwy 101 stop (this is the last stop on the route before the bus returns to Sechelt). Pick-ups can be arranged. At certain times it also may be possible for us to arrange to pick you up in Sechelt; a donation for our time is greatly appreciated.
By Private Bus:
Between Vancouver and Powell River,the Sunshine Coast Connector offers a limited bus schedule several times per week with various pick up spots in Vancouver: Pacific Central Station, Waterfront Station, Park Royal and the Horseshoe Bay ferry terminal.
Between Langdale Ferry and Earls Cove (on the Sunshine Coast) they offer a daily bus schedule.
In either case, please request to get off at Highway 101 & Redroofs Rd north end.
After leaving the Landgale Ferry terminal, follow Highway 101 to Sechelt (about 35 minutes). Continue along Highway 101 to Halfmoon Bay (15 minutes) . Once you pass trout Lake on your right, the road will begin to descend. Before the bottom of the hill, look for the Centre’s blue sandwich board at the junction of Highway 101 and Clarkson Way. Turn right onto Clarkson Way and follow the lane to the top end of Armstrong Way.
By private Ferry:
Pacific Ferries now offers a twice daily ferry service from Coal Harbour in Vancouver to Gibsons Landing. The Ferry also stops in Horseshoe Bay to pick up passengers and bring them to Gibsons on the Sunshine Coast.
